Az Orbán-rendszer eddigi legsúlyosabb válsága rávilágított a független média fontosságára a politikai erőtér alakításában. Az Európai Újságírók Szövetségének Magyar Tagozata hangsúlyozza, a független médiának kulcsszerepe volt abban, hogy a közvélemény tudomást szerzett az államfőnek benyújtott kegyelmi kérvényről. A magyar nyilvánosság átalakulását jelzi, hogy a bicskei gyermekotthon pedofil bűnöket eltussolni próbáló igazgató-helyettesének ügye nyomán a legnépszerűbb influenszerek csoportja óriási tömeget tudott mozgósítani a Hősök terén és környékén.
A botrányt kiváltó kegyelmi kérvényről először a 444.hu internetes portál adott hírt. Az első napok kormánypárti zavara után világossá vált, hogy a miniszterelnök csak súlyos vezéráldozatokkal tudja kisebbíteni a kormánya identitását közvetlenül érintő válságot. Orbán két szoros szövetségesét veszítette el, távozni kényszerült az államfő és a volt igazságügyi miniszter, akikre európai megjelenésük, műveltséget előlegező politizálásuk okán, s nem utolsó sorban női mivoltuk miatt fontos szerep várt – volna - a csaknem másfél évtizedes hatalomgyakorlásba belefáradt Fidesz-garnitúra megújításában.
A válságnak nincs vége; ezt valószínűsíti Balogh Zoltán püspök kikényszerített lemondása a Református Zsinat elnöki tisztségéről, s ugyanebbe az irányba mutat az igazságügyi miniszter volt férjének éles kritikája az Orbán-Rogán rendszerről, amely valószínűleg az eddigi legsúlyosabb támadás, amely a jogállami kritériumokat lebontó rendszert belülről érte. A botrányos kegyelmi döntés tehát újabb problémákat vet fel, változatlanul vannak tisztázásra váró részletek. Tagozatunk úgy véli, hogy a nyilvánosságnak továbbra is joga van tudni minden lényeges döntésről és azok hátteréről. A független médiának kötelessége, hogy ezekről a folyamatokról hitelesen és tárgyilagosan beszámoljon, a közvélemény ugyanis csak így tudja megfelelően értelmezni az eseményeket, amelyek valószínűleg új szakaszt jeleznek a teljes magyar nyilvánosság és a Nemzeti Együttműködés Rendszerének viszonyában.

The worst crisis of the Orbán regime so far has highlighted the importance of independent media in shaping the political arena. The Hungarian Section of the Association of European Journalists emphasizes that independent media played a key role in raising public awareness of the pardon petition submitted to the head of state. The transformation of the Hungarian public is indicated by the fact that following the case of the deputy director of the children's home in the city of Bicske, who tried to cover up paedophile crimes, the group of the most popular influencers was able to mobilize a huge crowd in and around Heroes' Square.
The request for clemency that sparked the scandal was first reported by the independent 444.hu web portal. After the turmoil of the ruling party in the first few days, it became clear that the prime minister could only minimize the crisis directly affecting his government's identity by making heavy leadership sacrifices. Orbán lost two close allies, the head of state and the former justice minister were forced to leave, who, due to their appearance in Europe, their politics that anticipated education, and last but not least because of their femininity, were expected to play an important role in renewing the Fidesz set-up, tired of almost a decade and a half of exercising power.
The crisis is not over; this is likely due to the forced resignation of Bishop Zoltán Balogh as President of the Reformed Council, and the sharp criticism of the former husband of the Minister of Justice about the Orbán-Rogán system, which is probably the most serious attack ever on the system dismantling the criteria of the rule of law, points in the same direction. The scandalous pardon decision therefore raises new problems, and there are still details to be clarified. Our Section believes that the public still has the right to know about all relevant decisions and their background. It is the duty of independent media to report credibly and objectively on these processes, as only in this way can the public properly interpret the events, which are likely to mark a new phase in the relationship between the entire Hungarian public and the so called „National Cooperation System”.
